DiCello Levitt Gutzler, a national plaintiff’s law firm, is pleased to announce that Mark Hamill has joined the firm in its Chicago office as Senior Counsel. He brings a depth of experience in complex commercial litigation along with a wealth of knowledge and experience about eDiscovery practices, as well as professional insights into accounting and economic topics.
Hamill focuses his legal practice on complex commercial litigation, including securities litigation, antitrust claims, appellate litigation, and class actions where he often takes the lead role with expert witnesses in finance, accounting, and economics topics. He is well-versed in eDiscovery topics, having previously served as an eDiscovery project manager on behalf of Fortune 500 and major accounting firm clients in large-scale, high intensity projects.
Hamill has practiced law with some of Chicago’s most prominent firms, where he served on trial and arbitration hearing teams in antitrust and accounting cases. He has represented clients in litigations and investigations involving commercial, securities, FCPA, and white-collar matters, including an insurance dispute arising from the Enron fraud and an internal investigation stemming from the Parmalat fraud.
Prior to joining the DiCello Levitt Gutzler, Hamill represented Direct Action Purchaser plaintiffs in antitrust cases, advancing their interests and coordinating with counsel in parallel actions. He also represented shareholders in securities class actions at a securities boutique law firm in New York. His time there included a Chinese reverse merger case where his deposition and class certification work were instrumental to achieving a favorable settlement for the class.
“It was very appealing to join a firm that is driven to maximize successful outcomes for clients across a range of large scale litigations. Coming to DiCello Levitt was an easy decision, and I am excited to bring my interdisciplinary perspective to complement an already impressive roster of dedicated attorneys,” Hamill said.
He is a graduate of Washington & Jefferson College and earned his J.D. from Northwestern University Law School. Prior to attending law school, Hamill worked as a CPA and consultant with KPMG and Deloitte, and as a senior internal auditor at Whirlpool Corporation. He is also a non-combat veteran of the U.S. Army, where his assignments included serving in a multinational peacekeeping force in Sinai, Egypt.
