DiCello Levitt is pleased to announce that Partner Diandra “Fu” Debrosse Zimmermann has been recognized as a 2022 Litigation Trailblazer by The National Law Journal. 2022 has been a trailblazing year for Fu. She recently made history as the first Black woman ever appointed to lead an MDL, being named co-lead counsel in the massive, high profile infant formula products liability case against Abbott Laboratories and Mead Johnson. This important milestone aligned with one of Fu’s broader, industry-wide goals.
Statistics show that only 5% of MDL leadership appointments go to non-white attorneys, despite the disproportionate impact that product defects, device malfunctions, and environmental hazards cause communities of color. To address this inequity, Fu joined forces with civil rights attorney Ben Crump to launch Shades of Mass, an advocacy group designed to promote diversity in mass tort and complex tort litigation leadership. Through Shades of Mass, Fu is determined to increase both visibility and opportunities for Black and Brown attorneys seeking first-tier litigation leadership positions and to ensure that judges know where to find them and understand the importance of placing them in leadership roles.
