DiCello Levitt Recognized in 10 Elite Trial Lawyer Award Categories by The National Law Journal

May 11, 2023

Firm Receives the Highest Recognition of any other Finalist or Winner

DiCello Levitt is pleased to announce that it has been named a finalist or winner in 10 categories for ALM| Law.com and The National Law Journal’s 2023 Elite Trial Lawyers Awards. The firm is named a finalist in antitrust, civil rights, class action, consumer protection, environmental protection, plaintiffs firm of the year, privacy/data breach, product liability, and trial strategy innovation. In addition, Diandra “Fu” Debrosse Zimmermann, managing partner of the firm’s Birmingham office and co-chair of the mass torts division, is recognized as an Elite Woman of the Plaintiffs Bar winner.

The National Law Journal recognizes law firms’ outstanding work in a high-stakes bench or jury trial or in a major settlement. The winners must have scored a significant win during the contest period and must also be able to show an impressive track record of wins over the last three to five years. Firms must have devoted at least 50% of their litigation resources to plaintiffs work and shown innovative approaches to case resolution.

The recognition by ALM|Law.com and The National Law Journal follows DiCello Levitt’s historic achievements and reaffirms the firm’s dedication to achieving justice for its clients in a wide range of cases. In recent years, the firm has secured settlements against Meta in one of the largest data privacy and data breach cases in U.S. history and a rare class action trial verdict against General Motors. Over the past year, the firm’s civil rights practice has fought for justice following Jayland Walker’s murder at the hands of Akron, Ohio, police officers, in a case that made national headlines. The firm’s environmental litigation practice has partnered with Attorneys General in Illinois and Michigan to recover natural resource damages and cleanup costs for soil and water contamination caused by PFAS manufacturers and third-party site generators.

Recognized as an Elite Woman of the Plaintiffs Bar, Fu continues to make history as she fights for justice for her clients. Last year, she became the first Black woman ever appointed to lead a multidistrict litigation when selected as co-lead counsel in a massive products liability case against Abbott Laboratories and Mead Johnson over baby formula. In October 2022, Fu filed the first lawsuit on behalf of users of chemical hair straightening products. Just months later, she was appointed co-lead counsel in a multidistrict litigation against L’Oréal and other makers of hair relaxer products.

The winners of each category will be announced at the Elite Trial Lawyers awards ceremony in New York City on July 13.
