Media Alert: Statement From Bobby DiCello, Legal Counsel to the Family of Zachary Fornash, In Response to the Announcement About Internal Review Findings

Dec 19, 2024

CANTON, OH, December 19, 2024—On December 5, 2023, Zachary Fornash, a 24-year-old father, was shot and killed by police in Canton, Ohio. Today, it was announced that the officer’s shooting of Zachary was “within policy” after an internal review of the Canton Police Department.

“The City’s recent, self-serving announcement that Zachary’s shooting was within policy has reopened deep wounds for his family. This decision forces them to relive Zachary’s tragic death, which they still believe was the result of excessive force. His death was unjust then, and it remains unjust today. Zachary did not deserve what happened to him,” said Bobby DiCello, attorney for the family of Zachary Fornash.
