Overview
A class action lawsuit has been filed against Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (“Chipotle” or the “Company”) (NYSE: CMG) and certain of the Company’s former and current senior executive officers alleging violations of the federal securities laws. The Chipotle class action lawsuit is brought on behalf of all persons and entities who purchased or otherwise acquired publicly traded Chipotle common stock between February 8, 2024, and October 29, 2024, both dates inclusive, and those who purchased Chipotle call options or sold put options during the class period (the “Class Period”). Investors have until January 10, 2025, to seek appointment as lead plaintiff in the Chipotle class action lawsuit.
Chipotle owns and operates Chipotle restaurants, which feature a relevant menu of burritos, burrito bowls (a burrito without the tortilla), quesadillas, tacos, and salads.
The Chipotle class action lawsuit alleges that Defendants, throughout the Class Period, made materially false and misleading statements regarding the Company’s business and operations. Specifically, Defendants made false and/or misleading statements and/or failed to disclose that: (1) Chipotle’s portion sizes were inconsistent and left many customers dissatisfied with the Company’s offerings; (2) in order to address the issue and retain customer loyalty, Chipotle would have to ensure more generous portion sizes, which would increase cost of sales; and (3) as a result, Defendants’ statements about their business, operations, and prospects were materially false and misleading and/or lacked a reasonable basis at all relevant times. When the true details entered the market, the lawsuit claims that investors suffered damages.
