Camp Lejeune Water Contamination
DiCello Levitt represents thousands of service members and their families seeking justice for decades-long exposure to toxic water contamination at a North Carolina military base.

For over three decades, the drinking water at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in North Carolina was dangerously contaminated. During that time, more than a million military members, civilian employees, and their families were unknowingly exposed, many developing debilitating illnesses as a result. DiCello Levitt represents thousands of those harmed, fighting to secure the compensation and accountability they deserve.
What Happened?
Between 1953 and 1987, Camp Lejeune’s water supply was contaminated with toxic chemicals—including trichloroethylene (TCE), tetrachloroethylene (PCE), vinyl chloride (VC), and benzene—at levels unsafe for human consumption. These substances are known to cause serious and sometimes fatal health conditions. For decades, Marines and their families lived, worked, and raised children on the base, unaware of the risks in their own drinking water.
Health Impacts
Exposure to the toxic water at Camp Lejeune has been linked to numerous health issues, including:
- Cancers such as leukemia, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and multiple myeloma.
- Neurological conditions like Parkinson’s disease.
- Infertility, birth defects, and other chronic illnesses.
Many who were exposed have suffered permanent injury, and countless families have lost loved ones to preventable illness.
A Path to Justice
In August 2022, Congress passed the Camp Lejeune Justice Act, allowing individuals who spent 30 or more days at the base between 1953 and 1987 to seek compensation from the U.S. government. The law covers both those harmed and their surviving family members.
This landmark legislation opened the door for military families and veterans to pursue long-overdue justice.
