DiCello Levitt Featured in National and International Headlines for Representation of Student in Class Action after Liberty University Refuses to Refund Student Fees After Suspending Services in Wake of Coronavirus Pandemic

Apr 19, 2020

Adam J. Levitt, a DiCello Levitt Gutzler co-founding partner, was featured in headlines around the world as the firm brought a complaint last week against Liberty University for its refusal to refund student fees owed to them for the Spring 2020 semester.

“While many higher education institutions have been empathetic to the upheaval that this pandemic has caused, and diligently worked with students and their families to provide appropriate refunds while shifting to e-learning opportunities, Liberty has, unfortunately, taken the opposite approach,” Levitt said.

In addition, coverage of the class-action suit has also centered around potential retaliation from Jerry Falwell, Jr, Liberty University’s President and the University itself. “We [parents] are scared that if we step forward and put our names out there our children could face incredible retaliation,” Levitt said.

Coverage to date has included CNN, The New York Times, Daily Mail, The Washington Post, Law.com, Buzzfeed, Forbes, CBS News, ABC News, MSNBC, Reuters and The Associated Press among others.
