Today, DiCello Levitt Founding Partner Adam Levitt was featured on BBC Radio Scotland – Drivetime with Fiona Stalker, where he offered legal insights into the sex trafficking charges levied against Abercrombie & Fitch’s former CEO Mike Jeffries and others. Jeffries was criminally charged with sex trafficking and prostitution involving dozens of men.
During the interview, Adam explained the gravity of the allegations against Jeffries, highlighting the ongoing investigation and similarities to recent high-profile cases, including those of Jeffrey Epstein, Harvey Weinstein, and the ongoing case of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
“There’s so many instances of people in positions of power taking advantage of others who are not in the same position. It’s something that is endemic in our society, both in the U.S. and around the world,” Adam said. “Unfortunately, for example, we’re heavily involved in the Peter Nygard litigation, where we represent the 135 victims of his abuse in the United States and the Bahamas over the past number of years, and he is presently incarcerated as a result.”
Adam expressed hope that such cases will continue to empower survivors to speak out and pursue the justice they deserve.
“I think that for years there was a culture of shame and guilt,” he said. “One of the things that we’ve seen in our sex abuse cases is the feeling that (survivors) are no longer alone. They have a voice. They have an ability to come out and seek the justice they are so vitally entitled to.”
